If you're here, it's because you're wondering what do mean these strange hieroglyphs on the bottom of the screen. No these are not hieroglyphs, these are kanji. In Japan, there are two ways of writing numbers: in arabic numerals or in kanji (chinese numerals). Even if now arabic numerals are prevalent, it's not unusual to see numbers written in kanji, especially on restaurant carte.
